The DeForest Police Department offers numerous programs in crime prevention such as residential and business security and crime prevention surveys, Crime Prevention by Environmental Design, Fraud Prevention, Identity Theft Prevention, Neighborhood Watch, SpeedWatch, and other crime prevention programs.  We believe that to prevent crime, we all must do our part to look out for each other.  We also believe that residents must take responsibility to help prevent crime and loss.

To talk to an officer about any of our crime prevention programs, or to obtain information, please contact Lieutenant Daniel Furseth at 846-6655.

Crime Prevention

The DeForest Police Department has led the way for other area departments with the implementation of school resource officers since 1990.  The program has grown to consist of two full time officers being assigned to DeForest schools.  Officer Diana O’Neill is the liaison for both grade schools and the middle school.  Officer Joe VanVoohis is the high school liaison officer.  Both officers handle a huge amount of incidents, both in and outside the schools.

The partnership that has been formed with the DeForest School District has been one of envy for most communities.  The police department, village government, and school district have all dedicated themselves to the school officer program for the benefit of our shared community.
